It's official -- October WAS cold

Last month was the coldest October for 64 years throughout much of New Zealand, including Wanganui. Figures released from the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research [NIWA] show that temperatures in the lower North Island were on average 2 degrees colder than normal.

Shorn for a good cause

After raising more than $600 for those with leukaemia, losing his locks was the final cut for 15 year-old Wanganui High School student Tana Marker. Tana said yesterday he chose the leukaemia charity because it was better to "support it now than later".
